1. Who We Are

Instanswer operates the instanswer.ai platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Contact us at hello@instanswer.ai with any privacy questions.

2. Data We Collect

Account data: email address and password (hashed) when you sign up.

Website content: pages crawled from the URLs you provide, stored as text chunks to power your chatbot.

Conversation data: messages between your website visitors and your chatbot.

Usage data: API call counts, token usage, and costs associated with your account.

Lead data: email addresses submitted through free tools (FAQ Generator, ROI Calculator, Chatbot Tester).

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide and operate the Service
To process your website content into chatbot training data
To send transactional emails (account, billing, security)
To send product updates and marketing emails (you can unsubscribe any time)
To monitor usage and enforce plan limits
To improve the Service (aggregated, anonymised data only)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your content to train AI models.

4. Third-Party Processors

We share data with the following sub-processors to operate the Service:

Supabase — database and authentication
OpenAI — generating text embeddings
Anthropic — generating chatbot responses
Firecrawl — crawling website content
Vercel — hosting and infrastructure
Paddle — payment processing
Resend — transactional email

5. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (session token). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Upon cancellation, your data is deleted within 30 days. Conversation logs are retained for 90 days to support dashboard analytics, then purged.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Export your data in a portable format
Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes to This Policy
